Where do meningiomas most commonly occur in the nervous system?

Meningiomas are most commonly located in the falx cerebri, which is a sickle-shaped fold of dural tissue that separates the two cerebral hemispheres. These tumors arise from the meninges, the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord, and the falx cerebri provides a suitable environment for their development because of the presence of a rich vascular supply and the location's anatomical predisposition.

While meningiomas can occur in other areas of the nervous system, including the tentorium cerebelli and even regions like the cerebellum and brainstem, the falx cerebri remains the most prevalent site. The reason for this is partly due to the pattern of dural attachments and the areas of the brain that have a higher incidence of these neoplasms.
